Søk residensopphald for 2027 innan 1. november

Would you like to develop your creative practice in oral or written storytelling, or are you working on a project related to storytelling? Apply for a residency at the poet Jakob Sande’s childhood home!

We invite authors, poets, translators, playwrights, critics, storytellers and others to apply for a residency at the Jakob Sande Center of narrative arts.

In 2027, we also encourage students and academics researching topics related to written and oral storytelling, Jakob Sande or intangible cultural heritage to apply. We are happy to discuss research topics and questions related to master’s theses, PhD projects and other research projects.

You can apply for a residency of between two weeks and two months, either on your own or as part of a group. The residency includes your own living room and workspace, as well as access to a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and laundry facilities.

The Jakob Sande Centre is located in Fjaler, a municipality with long-standing traditions in education, arts and culture. The area is home to several strong cultural and educational organisations with national and international reach, including Red Cross Nordic United World College, Nordic Artists’ Centre Dale, Kulturskulen i HAF, the Fjaler Theatre Festival, Preform and Samvirket scene and more. The Centre works closely with several of these organisations. Dale is a vibrant village with an active and creative arts and cultural community.

The residency offers time and space to work, inspiration and the opportunity to become part of a professional and creative storytelling environment.

The application deadline for 2027 is 1 November 2026. To apply, submit a short text introducing yourself and describing what you would like to use the residency for. We collaborate with Preform to offer access to a sound studio and stage for those who need them during their stay. If this is relevant to your project, please mention it in your application.
